Eight and a half year old Brisbane dining institution, Brent’s Restaurant, will serve its last meal on December 24, 2013. Chef owner Brent Farrell today announced the decision to evolve the much loved restaurant to make way for a new venue, 85 Miskin St.

Brent’s Restaurant was made famous for its somewhat different style of modern French cuisine; however 85 Miskin St will embrace interesting flavours and styles from different parts of the world to sidestep pigeonholing the restaurant to one style of cuisine.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported the Brent’s Journey. For nearly a decade, every day I have woken up and cooked for my customers and it has never been a chore. I want to share my love of food with more people, more often and this new style of venue will allow me to do that”, said Farrell.

Farrell is set to establish a more contemporary, earthier and slightly edgy diner.

“My vision for 85 Miskin St is a comfortable, approachable and inviting place where people will come together to share great tasting exciting food and a drinks list with a quirky approach. 85 Miskin St will move away from the traditional entrée, main and desserts format to embrace a model of dining where the guest determines how they would like to eat from the menu”, said Farrell.

The focus for the menu will constantly capture the changing seasons on the plate and produce will be handpicked by Brent at the markets on a day to day basis. Farrell aims to continue to use his garden at the rear of the restaurant for growing all his own herbs, flowers & to produce native stingless bee honey.

“The essence of refined service – our personal touch – will be more present than ever”, said Farrell.

“If Paris is the overbearing parent, then Brent’s is the insolent teenager, rebelling with a menu that acknowledges its origins but embraces its freedom with an individuality that is hard won and worn with pride”, wrote De Groots Media.

Now Farrell prepares for the birth of 85 Miskin St and if one thing is for certain, the insolent teenager definitely has a few tricks up his sleeve yet.

The venue is slated for refurbishment in January and will reopen as 85 Miskin St from the end of January 2014.
